We continued our trip from the Marina Beach Chennai back to our hotel near the Chennai International Airport. We cleared out from there to move to the airport. The Chennai International Airport was inaugurated in Feb 2013, and it has been named after the former Chief Minister and popular figure, Shri C N Annadurai; called the Annadurai International Airport. It was our first entry into the terminal. Here are few things that you can observe here.
An approximately 1 Km long passageway interconnects the Domestic and the International Airport overlooking the flyover in front. The airport has been designed with superior aesthetics and landscaping. The Chennai Airport is the first of its kind to have the Domestic and the International Airport Terminals placed close to each other.

We approached the Terminal T3 for our departure. The area around the terminal has already started sprawling up with the South Indian Delicacies and yes, we were hungry. So, the first thing that happened was a wholesome South Indian Meal.
We moved to the Terminal Gate and it took us few minutes to complete the formalities of checking the passport and visa and then entering inside the airport. The enthusiasm was on a high.
There were not many options at the airport check in and inside the waiting area since most of the development was under process, though the basic amenities such as the elevators, walkalators, Wi-Fi connectivity, check-in and immigration counters, and few duty-free shops were already in place. The shops and the kiosks were less occupied as this area also had been newly expanded and the only option we had was to wait for the security check. We decided take a stroll of the airport until we were called for the security check.

We proceeded for the Security check and entered inside the boarding area. The Departure Area has been designed over three levels with the departures at the underground and ground levels. The first floor was under expansion for new restaurants, VIP lounge areas and shops. The duty free shops were in place and I grabbed one of my favourite novels from the nearby bookstore.

The walkalators took us to the departure gates and it was time to board the flight to Singapore. It was finally happening. The flight would have been for four and a half hours which would land us to Changi International Airport at 0230 Hrs Singapore Standard Time. Our experience so far had been amazing and we were enjoying the anonymity on the way.
