Kuala Lumpur International Airport

Kuala Lumpur International Airport is not something you will know of in one go. There is more beneath the surface than you actually see. You need to explore it at ease. Whether you are a shopaholic or a foodie, or just planning to chill out on your transit, Kuala Lumpur International Airport has something to keep every traveler busy. Here’s a sneak-peek into a day spent at the airport while in transit.

Orienting with the Kuala Lumpur International Airport

The Kuala Lumpur Airport is spread over three levels and forms two rows which are divided into 7 sectors for easy movement of the passengers. The Sectors 1,2 and 3 form the first row and the sector 5,6,and 7 the second. The sectors are further distributed over several levels. The central skybridge or the sector-4 connects the two rows  in the form of a central passage.

Relax and take a break

The best part about the Kuala Lumpur International Airport is the centralized arrival area. Simply put, it helps the traveler to wait at the lounge, and take their time to find their way through the airport. It is always a good idea to orient oneself with the ‘whats and wheres’ of the airport terminals.Kuala Lumpur International Airport

The Arrival opens to a sprawling waiting area from where the various parts of the Airport branch out. The arrival hall is at the basement that helps you ease off when you arrive from a hop. If you have another flight to take, you can seek information just before the entrance of the arrival gate, where the Airport Assistance is available. If you need to wait longer for your next flight, there is enough for you to rest, relax and chill out until the next flight arrives.

Kuala Lumpur International AirportThe arrival hall extends on the either sides to two levels P and Q, that lead to the two boarding gates for departures. The shopping areas and food-courts are on the upper levels and one can connect with them with the elevators.

For the Shopaholics

Looking for some Duty Free Shopping. You won’t get disappointed here. Books, jewelry, perfumes, antiques, cosmetics or chocolates; there is lot that you can shop here without getting tired, or well, get busy window-shopping at least! Kuala Lumpur International Airport

The shopping areas are also located near the Security check into one of the two departure terminals P and Q, but they may get slightly costlier than what you shop before that. You can do your duty-free billing at the entrances of the departure terminals before heading to the departure gates.

I would recommend climbing up the elevators in the main  terminal and hunt for some chocolate souvenirs. It’s a different world upstairs waiting. If you have a fetish for watches (I have and I do admit!) you can find one of them right after crossing the duty-free area. Do not worry, as the watches are duty free too.

Foodies Ahoy!

There is a lot for the foodies to enjoy. Grab the elevator to level-3 and you find yourself on the extended shopping and dining areas of the airport. Here you can grab yourself a drink or carry home a souvenir. The food joints are all lined up along the corners of the level, with the shopping areas placed at the centre. Kuala Lumpur International Airport

If you need a break and looking for a chilled beer, now is the time. Wine and Beer awaits you at the entrance.
You deserve to treat your taste buds with some relishing delicacies served on the upper deck. From a quick bite to a wholesome filler, the upper deck food court serves cuisines of almost every kind. You can try out rice dishes, noodles, Indian cuisines or fillers such as KFC snack or burgers.

How about carrying home some drinks for souvenir! The airport also sports some authentic, aged and blended whiskey brands you can boast your friends of when you carry them home. The liquors are as old as 20 years and their colours and blend speak of themselves. Well, I leave the rest for the pictures to speak.

Wait and watch while the coffee beans crush through the brewer, and feel the aroma of the rich coffee soaking in. Do not forget to put all your senses together. By the time the coffee reaches your lips, it is ecstacy unfolded.

Checking Out

Kuala Lumpur International Airport

It is time for me to check out and head for the departure now as my next flight is about to land. I had a great time exploring here. I couldn’t see all of the airport, but that’s great as I have something more for the next time.
