The 11th Avenue-Cafe` Bistro is located adjoining the street where the Assam State Museum is located. After visiting the museum, I took a break to sip coffee here, but ended up with the refreshing mojito instead. Facing the serenity of the Prashanti Udyan, this cafe` can be an ideal hangout place in the evenings.
At 03:00 in the morning on 02 Jun 2015, I got a phone call from my uncle. By the time I could pick up the call, I missed it. There had barely been any signal at the place where I was staying and I was not able to receive any messages since last day. When I opened up my ‘Watsapp’, I got the message from my wife; it was erratically written and it said, “Help, all of us are falling ill in the train”. They were travelling for my sister’s marriage from Nagpur to Nasik on the 01 Jun 2015, and I was supposed to join the family from Kolkata on 03rd. Little did I know that my day on 02 Jun was about to begin with a horrific message.
Located along the banks of the Brahmaputra River, the Alfresco park is the starting point for an exciting journey into the serene Brahmaputra River. With its vast expanse, the Brahmaputra is the widest river in India with a breadth spanning almost 4km-5km, and has a treasure trove of some of the largest fresh water fishes. I had always seen this point from the window of buses while passing over the MG. Road in Guwahati. This time though, I had made up my mind to take this trip at all costs…
Finally, I was able to take a tour to the Assam State Museum today. The museum has a sprawling mansion spread over three storeys and has got a unique collection of artifacts, paintings, and sculptures preserved for the visitors. My short trip inside the museum today of two hours was full of information, and an enlightening experience. Presenting a photo-tour of the museum….
